Latinos get injured the most in the workforce!

It’s a fact, 14% of all the officially documented workplace fatalities are Latino workers while they represent only 12% of the labor force, according to a 2003 study by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The Latino labor force has experienced the largest incidence of workplace accidents out of all the U.S. ethnic and racial groups.

Our Solution

We are convinced that adequate workplace safety training, in Spanish, is the most effective tool to help diminish the already worrisome workplace accident statistics. That is why we offer over 40 Safety classes in Spanish and have many instructors that se habla Español (speaks Spanish)

The Future

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the growth of the Latino labor force is estimated at 3.5% from 2000 to 2010 reaching in that year a total of 30.3 million workers. Estimating the labor force until 2050, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that one in every four workers will be of Latino origin in 2050.

Workplace Accidents for Latinos

Fatal workplace accidents for Latino workers are mainly caused by:

  • Moving vehicles in the workplace
  • Inappropriate contact with electricity
  • Falls
  • Mishandling and use of dangerous chemicals
  • Inappropriate use of personal protective equipment

According to OSHA, “We are in need of safety professionals that speak Spanish so that they can communicate with the employees that do not speak English,” said John Henshaw, OSHA administrator.
