Job Description: 

1. Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

2. Plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices.

3. Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.

4. Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible incident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.

A Site Safety and Health officer has the important role of protecting both the workers and workplace and ensuring the organization is compliant with government requirements. The objective of the Site Safety & Health Officer is to ensure the efficient profitable management of the SMART Safety Group customer’s Safety Program. 

The primary functions of a health and safety officer are to develop, monitor and implement the organization's health and safety policy; to ensure the organization is compliant with health and safety legislation; and to reduce or prevent hazards, dangers and accidents. This role not only ensures the health and safety of the workers but also of the workplace, environment and general public. This role is administrative consulting role to our customers. This position does not; and is not to perform any duties to the jobsites other than assigned to walk the site, monitor, audit, consult and train jobsite personnel on safety and safety compliance.


 The Site Safety and Health Officer has the authority to provide the leadership and direction to the worksite management and to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities and duties of the position, which is within sound management practices and good business judgment.


Essential Duties: 

The current position includes the following duties, but not limited to:

1. Enhance the image and reputation of SMART Safety Group. By exercising sound, ethical business practices in all relations with customers, employees, others and ensure all practices comply with the Company’s quality procedures.

2. Planning, coordinating, scheduling, and controlling the safety functions at assigned customer’s jobsite to meet or exceed customer expectations for safety management.

3. Controlling productivity and safety audit accuracy on each job-site audit under the Site Safety and Health Officer’s control and provide data for any other reports required by the customer and/or the Staffing Director.

4. Maintaining document control to insure information is accurate and timely for maintaining customer safety program requirements. 

5. Maintaining record keeping to adequately report safety program results and incident follow-up.

6. Coordinating the material and personnel to perform all structured meetings with customer personnel.

7. Controlling and reporting time spent on activities for each assigned customer on a continuing basis.

8. Coordinating audits to assure they are conducted, collated and reported properly to each customer as well as the Staffing Director.

9. Ensure that all activities under the direct control of the Site Safety & Health Officer meet the quality standards of the company and customers.

10. Prepare self with the proper mindset, safety supplies and procedures prior to entering job site. 

11. Attending all company training and staff meetings as directed 

12. Ensuring that safety programs are followed and that customer’s employees operate within sound safety standards.

13. Provide information, communication and leadership to make the Management Team an effective unit by providing the Management Team and Staffing Director with customer information on a regular basis using the information documents required by SMART Safety Group.

14. Ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, City and municipality laws and regulations.

15. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned and keep SMART Safety Group informed on significant financial and employment issues.

16. Perform all administrative and clerical duties

· Other projects as assigned
